Description
GERMAN HEER AWARD DOCUMENT GROUPING – 100. JAEGER DIVISION – CLOSE COMBAT CLASP – STALINGRAD!
Grouping named to Karl GRASSEGGER. He served in Inf Rgt 135, 227 and Jaeger Rgt. 227 of the 100. Jaeger Division. His unit was destroyed at Stalingrad but he survived, somehow, as he was with this Regiment before and after Stalingrad. The most likely explanation is that he was wounded there (thus, the missing Black Wound Badge document) and was evacuated before escape from the area became impossible. Comes with his Iron Cross FIRST Class award document with original signature division commander and RK winner Generalleutnant Willibald Utz, Silver Wound Badge with signature Btl. Cdr., Infantry Assault Badge with signature Regimental commander, CLOSE COMBAT CLASP IN BRONZE (March 1, 1945)with signature regimental commander, Iron Cross Second Class with signature 100. leichte Infanterie-Division division commander Generalleutnant Werner Sanne. Sanne commanded the 100th during STALINGRAD and surrounded to the Soviets there in Jan. 1943. Sudetenland Medal document.
