WEHRPASS – PIONIER BATAILLON 49 – 10. PANZER DIVISION – POLAND 1939 – BREST-LITOVSK
Heer Wehrpass issued to Obergef. Alwin NICKEL. He served in Pionier Bataillon 49 of the 10. Panzer Division. Award for the West Wall Medal entered. The battalion participated in the Polenfelszug (Polish Campaign).
Its first combat deployment took place on September 1, 1939. From its staging area in East Prussia, it marched to Danzig, then into Dolen via Lomscha to Brest-Litovsk/Sita-Selle. During this time, it established ferry operations across the Sie Marew near Lomscha. It also built a war bridge. However, the battalion was already subordinated to the 10th Janzer Division during the Polenfeldzug (Polish Campaign).
