VERY NICE GERMAN LUFTWAFFE PHOTO ALBUM – “BLUE DIVISION” SPANISH DELEGATION TO ITALY – MACKENSEN SIGNATURE
Very nice album named to Luftwaffe man Götz WOLF. Great photos concerning a German delegation visiting Italy. Given the wounded nature of several of the personal photographed, perhaps it is a hospital in Italy? Also comes with a letter to the wife of a soldier KIA. Great photos of Germans in Florence, scarce photos of BLUE DIVISION SPANISH VOLUNTEERS wearing Espana volunteer sleeve shields and Spanish uniforms with German eagles (!), photo of EBERHARD VON MACKENSEN with original signature, Italian Fascist girls in uniform posing with German and Italian troops, photos of a German Cross in Gold winner, great portrait photo of Italian Fascist in uniform, Italian color propaganda cards, photos of Götz later in tropical uniforms, very nice studio portrait of Götz wear gin the EK1, then many photos of him after the war.
Friedrich August Eberhard von Mackensen (24 September 1889 – 19 May 1969) was a German general and war criminal during World War II who served as commander of the 1st Panzer Army and the 14th Army. Following the war, Mackensen stood trial for war crimes before a British military tribunal in Italy where he was convicted and sentenced to death for his involvement in the Ardeatine massacre, in which hundreds of Italian civilians and political prisoners were shot. The sentence was later commuted and Mackensen was released in 1952. He died in West Germany in 1969.
