HEER SOLDBUCH – HEERES PANZER JAEGER ABTEILUNG (Sf.) 731 – JAGDPANZER 38 HETZER – KURLAND
Another excellent Soldbuch issued to Unteroffizier Walter MAUTER. Contains a very nice ID photo of him wearing Feldgrau Sturmgeschütz tunic. He served in Heeres Panzerjäger-Abteilung 731. The Jagdpanzer 38 first entered service with the Heeres Panzerjäger-Abteilung 731 in July 1944. This unit was sent to Army Group North on the Eastern Front.[14] One report from the Eastern Front described how a company of Jagdpanzer 38 destroyed 20 enemy tanks without any losses. In September 1944, the Heeres Panzerjäger Abteilung 741 (741st Army Tank Hunter Battalion) was issued with forty-five Jagdpanzer 38 tank hunters. One company was sent to the Eastern Front, but the other two were directed to the Arnhem sector in Holland. Awards entered include Black Wound Badge, Silver Wound Badge, Sturmabzeichen, KURLAND CUFFTITLE, Bronze Driver’s Badge, KVK2, EK2, Silver Driver’s Badge.
