HEER SOLDBUCH – 319 INFANTERIE DIVISION – CHANNEL ISLANDS – GUERNSEY
Very rare Soldbuch to a Wilhelm FENZL who served in the Sanitäts Kompanie 319 of the 319 Inf. Division. The Division was stationed in the CHANNEL ISLANDS from April 1941 until war’s end. There are stamps in the Soldbuch for “Ortslazaretts JERSEY” where he was hospitalized for a shell splinter injury. He previously served in Grenadier Regiment 41 (mot.) and Pionier Bat. 177. It appears he saw most of his combat service with Gren. Rgt 41, part of the 10. Panzer Grenadier Division. Awards entered include Sudetenland Campaign medal, Infantry Assault Badge, Ostmedaille, EK2 and Black Wound Badge. Original ID photo on inside cover shows hi wearing EK2 and other ribbons. Soldbuch was issued Sept. 10 1941.
On 30 April 1941 the 319th Division replaced the 216th Infantry Division in the Channel Islands defense and remained in that position until its capture in May 1945 by British forces.
