HEER SOLDBUCH – 1.(Sf.)/ PANZER JAEGER ABTEILUNG 376 – 376. INFANTERIE DIVISION
Very nice SOldbuch issued to Obergefreiter Erich JAHNKE. Soldbuch was issued March 1, 1940. Has a very nice photo of the man wearing Feldgrau Sturmgeschütz tunic. His first field unit was 1./Panzer Abwehr Abteilung 218 then, 1.(Sf.)/ Panzer Jaeger Abteilung 376, Grenadier Regiment 912 and finally Grenadier Regiment 284. Awards include KVK2 and Black Wound Badge. Panzerjäger-Abteilung 376 was part of the 376. Infanterie Division which was destroyed at STALINGRAD. It was with this unit that he served in a self propelled assault gun of some sort – note the (Sf.) designation to his unit entry. He was then transferred to the Panzer Jaeger Kompanie of Grenadier Regiment 912. This was part of the 349 infanterie Division. The division was originally formed on 25 November 1943 in St. Omer near Calais, France, and fought mostly on the Eastern Front, being effectively destroyed near Zolochiv by the Soviet Army’s Lvov-Sandomierz Offensive in July 1944, and disbanded in August 1944. His last unit was Grenadier Regiment 284, part of the 96. Infanterie Division.
