Complete Wehrpass issued to Heinrich Freund, born 6 September 1914 in Kleintannensteig (Passau), an agricultural worker by trade.
Includes original uniform portrait photograph, signatures, and numerous official stamps from Wehrbezirks-Kommando Kempten.

Service began with peacetime training in Kempten, where Freund specialized as a machine gunner (MG-Schütze) and horse handler. He participated in pre-war mobilization periods, including the Annexation of Austria, before assignment to a heavy machine gun company of Infanterie-Regiment 85 at the outbreak of WWII.

DEATH & CASUALTY DETAILS:
Freund was fatally wounded on 12 September 1939 during the Battle of the Bzura, one of the largest engagements of the Polish Campaign. Cause: Multiple artillery shell splinter wounds (A.G. Splitter) to the back, neck, and left upper thigh. Death: Succumbed to wounds the same day at Feldlazarett 10 (mot.) in Zgierz. Burial: Interred at the military cemetery in Zgierz, Grave 55.
