JJ.   FALLSCHIRMJAEGER SOLDBUCH - Fallschirmjaeger Regiment 1 + 5 - Rare AFRIKA SERVICE - KAMPFGRUPPE KOCH!!
Original SB named to Obergef Wilfried WEINKOETTER.  Captured in AFRIKA after serving with Fallschirmjaeger Kampfgruppe KOCH!  units from January 1940 - May 1941. From 28 May - 14 November 1941, Weinkoetter served with the Verbindungsstab zur Italienischen Luftwaffe (Liason Headquarters to the Italian Air Force). From 15 November 1941-2 February 1942, he served with a signal unit of the General of the German Luftwaffe in Italien. From 3 February 1942, he was assigned to the 3rd Company of Fallschirmjaeger Regiment 1 and from 26 October - 5 November 1942, he served at Fallschirmschule 1 (Paratrooper School 1) in Stendal. Has an extra qualification page stating that he was fit to be a paratrooper after being examined on 17 November 1941. No awards listed. His final units on page 17 states that he was assigned to Feldpost Numbers which correspond to Fallschirmjaeger Regiment 5 which fought in Afrika and whose II. Battalion was later renamed as Jaeger Regiment Hermann Goering. Written at the bottom of page 17 in the replacement unit section is: 16 Fallsch.Jaeg.Erg.Rgt. Stendal, Fallsch. Ers. Regt. Stendal and Ers. Batl. Koch Hildesheim.  Kampfgruppe Koch's purpose was to assist General Fischer's counterattack to regain lost ground in front of the Tunisian Bridgehead. Its commander was Oberstleutnant Koch. 
Kampfgruppe Koch's main engagements were the counterattack in Tunisia North sector (Nov. 30 - Dec. 3, 1942) and the German offensive in Northern Tunisia (Feb. 26 - Mar. 15, 1943).  He was captured (possibly killed) at the Tunisian Capitulation.
