Luftwaffe KNIGHTS CROSS WINNER Award Document & Photo Grouping - STALINGRAD
Original grouping to Posthumous STALINGRAD KNIGHTS CROSS WINNER Oberlt. Helmut SCHNATZ of Flak Regiment 25.  He was awarded the RK on Oct 17, 1942 for his service in STALINGRAD. He was KIA on Sept 19, 1942.  During the heavy defensive battles before Pescanka, he was credited with the destruction of 28 Russian tanks and 17 enemy guns. Comes with his original posthumous GROUND COMBAT BADGE Award Document awarded Sept 23, 1942 with original signature 15 Flak Division commander General Gerhard HOFFMANN - for action at STALINGRAD, original studio portrait of him onto which has been added the Knights Cross (this is the photo you see on the internet for him), photo of his grave, letters he wrote home from Stalingrad right up until a few days before his death, and more.  Rare grouping!
